Taverners Vs. Royal Tuskers
July 11 2018
Despite the forecast predicting showers & possible thunderstorms, the weather cleared out to be a nice sunny not too windy evening.Taverners batted 1st opening with Hein & Vasu. The start was slow to some tight bowling until Vasu was out bowled for 10. Chomo then joined Hein but was not able to get a lot of power into his shots but managed to stay with Hein until the 14th over scoring mostly singles until being run & out to a great throw for 21. Nigel then joined Hein they pushed the score along but it was still tough sledding. Hein was finally out for 31 & Nigel for 13. With only a couple of overs left Joe N.O 4 David 2 & Martin 0, left Taverners with a lowly sore of 104 for 6
When the Tuskers batted it was obvious that Sudarshan & Vasu had some rivalries to exploit.
Su. opened the bowling with a great maiden with a lot of grunting. Joe unfortunately wasn’t able to follow this story. The next over Su. took a wicket bowled, in a way I have never seen before. He took both the Leg & Off stumps out of the ground but the middle stump was undisturbed. In his next over there was a loud appeal from most Taverners for a catch behind, as I saw no deflection & had no access to the heat spot camera I gave not out. I found out later only 2 people did not appeal, the bowler & the wicket keeper.
The Tuskers continued to score quick runs & were more adept at hitting boundaries , but they could not deny Vasu his wicket. With their most successful batsman & bowler reaching 52 N.O Tuskers wrapped up the score in 15 overs.
Bowlers taking wickets:-
Sudarshan 1 – 5, Vasu 2 – 15, Daniel 1 – 30 & David 1 – 23
A very pleasant game played in the best of spirits, very few appeals except for 1 from Taverners for a catch behind from everyone not involved including someone on the square leg boundary.
The post match gathering was at Hein’s, but no Babouti, but a very pleasant chicken Lasagne. Just a perfect evening sitting around the pool with good friends, a glass of refreshment & just lovely weather.
