Taverners vs Winnipeg Super Kings 2—Match report

To sum up a few words from a certain kiwi sat in the Cambridge Hotel after the game.

“Chris was awesome behind the stumps, Alli batted great ,the rest was S**T”

So what else to say?

One player missing his shoes and when we started the game with only 5 players,  all the bowlers were hit around a little bit by the first two pairs. We did take a few wickets and with Anil now in the house,we limited the last pair, however we still had a target of 127 to salvage the game.

Though we scored a few runs, the game looked beyond us when the last pair needed 70 to win. A fine attempt by Alli watched by his partner at the other end, but it wasn’t to be and we came up 14 runs short.

Post game gathering saw the appearance of Jon, Phil and Mr Hakes and some interesting discussion about travel, pandemic woes and the demise of the English cricket team.

The record now stands at 2-2 with two more games to go…like the Jets our play-offs hope are fading.
